Rutas Unidas, a group that operates 8,500 microbuses and almost 2,200 taxis saw the future savings on the electric drive; they commisioned a validation unit with almost 3 times the range and full set of ammenities. The result was shown in Anaheim, California at the EVS-23 event. See EV World article.
The car is finishing its testing period in Woburn, MA and is slated for presentation in Mexico City in early fall 2008, along with an AGM iteration for those 'initial cost' conscious cab operators in Mexico City.
The Nissan B-15 Chassis (Sentra 00-06) has Air conditioning, electric locks. and a range of 120 miles.
The compact Kokam battery pack allows for just one under the hood box, freeing trunk from more batteries.
EAE-Azure-Rutas Unidas e-TAXI was on of the cars that at EVS-23 won the e-Visionary Award for Mexico City.
